A solid experience. Definitely similar to Balatro for chess. I'm not a fan of the stalemate mechanic though. I'd rather just fail or succeed rather than have to replay a whole game again. Many of the gambits feel lackluster so far. One suggestion for others, don't worry too much about losing pieces as long as it's for a purpose like capturing a pivotal enemy. It can feel like you played wrong but many times it's necessary to progress given the board state.

I never write reviews, but had to for this game. My new addiction! Scratches that Balatro itch in all the right ways!!! Every round is like a puzzle, but it's easy to learn because you use chess rules. The Rogue lite mechanics are well done as well, you can really get some killer combos. I put hours into the demo on Steam™ and now I can play it anywhere. Goodbye productivity. Highly recommended, and a steal for the price!

The premise of the game is good, and the mechanics seem fun, but there is an overlying issue i am seeing after playing 3 runs now. The Gambits do not work correctly or at all when you buy them. I had 2 different Gambits on 2 different runs that werent being used even though the conditions were fully met. The latest one was that a piece was supposed to be "Blessed" (meaning it returns to me when captured) when I move my first piece of the game. It looked "Blessed" but then never returned to me.

Thanks for the report. Blessing lasts one turn by default and only activates if the blessed piece is captured while active. It then returns as a duplicate, if there is room in your stock. Blessing fields trigger when a piece actively moves onto them. If it still seems wrong: gambonanza@ateo.ch.
